Hall of Famer, Rick Hummel to join Claibs Online roster for 2023 Cardinals season

On Monday, Mike Claiborne announced that Hall of Fame writer Rick Hummel will join his talent stacked, Claibs Online roster for the 2023 St. Louis Cardinals season.

The Commish, as he’s known around MLB, recently retired from the St. Louis Post Dispatch after 51 years, with 50 of those covering the Cardinals. He was honored back in 2007 during the Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremonies when he was presented with the J. G. Taylor Spink Award now known as the BBWAA Career Excellence Award.

Hummel will write a weekly column for Claibs Online, and will join Mike Claiborne one a week for a podcast, with topics including the current Redbirds, plus stories and memories from their combined 90 plus years of covering baseball in St. Louis.

Hummel’s (2008) addition to the Claibs Online team, will make him the 4th Missouri Sports Hall of Fame member on the roster, joining Claiborne (2021), Howard Richards (2018), and Dr. Rick Lehman (2012).

Commish will begin writing for Claibs Online in February when he decends down to Jupiter, Florida for Spring Training, covering Cardinals camp along with some World Baseball Classic events alongside Claibs and Joe Roderick.
