BOB RAMSEY

Bob Ramsey is a native St. Louisan who grew up on Cardinal baseball (vintage Lou Brock and Bob Gibson) with a dose of St. Louis Hawks and the birth of the Blues thrown in.

A Pattonville High grad he matriculated down the field to Lindenwood College and a broadcasting major (but mainly to play baseball and a little basketball).

From there a series of play-by-play gigs came and went which included... DeSmet Spartans, Monmouth Fighting Scots, St. Louis Hummers, Centenary Gentleman (and Ladies), Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (vintage The Mailman) and Lady Techsters, Grambling Tigers, Mickey Thompson Racing Series, Bud Sports Boat Racing Series, St. Louis Ambush, St. Louis Cardinals (parts of five seasons) and the St. Louis University Billikens for the past 32 years.

Ramsey got some TV anchor reps in the ‘80s and was a part of the group that started all-sports radio in St. Louis and then on the first FM all-sports station. It was there that he was on the first sports talk show to be ranked number one in the market.

His two Emmys, five Missouri Sportscaster of the Year awards and three Halls of Fame prove that there is no accounting for taste.

With a beautiful wife and three children it has been unanimously determined that he is the worst athlete in his family (and it’s not close).
